With the new environmentally-friendly ECO-SOL MAX® 2 ink, the XR-640 is a true evolution. Offering fast drying times, and nine different colour options including high-density white and metallic silver, and new light black, the nickel free ECO-SOL MAX® 2 ink enables the XR-640 to deliver brilliant colours, flawless skintones and spectacular special effects. All of this translates into the perfect production device ready to deliver a vast range of applications from durable outdoor banners, POP displays, soft signage, vehicle graphics, labels, decals, or fine art and photographic reproductions. Get ready to experience next generation large-format digital printing.

The XR-640 features two latest generation 8-channel piezo inkjet heads with 180 nozzles per channel. The inline formation allows for smoother gradations and richer density for photographic and high-resolution vector output. Configured in a mirrored pattern through seven colours, chromatic banding is virtually eliminated in bi-directional printing.

Dual Print head

To deliver the outstanding image quality sought by professionals in the sign business, the XR-640 is equipped with the latest dual print heads, which fire droplets of seven different sizes to optimize image quality for the specific media and print resolutions selected. The XR-640’s print control technology, high performance print heads and ECO-SOL MAX 2 inks draw out every detail for unsurpassed image quality. Ink adhesion has been drastically improved through the fine tuning of our ink chemistry, precise head control and drop placement. This allows for high-density coverage as well as deep, rich colors that can create subtle nuances within the image, for the most discerning customers.

With print speeds of up to 49 m2/h (528 sq. ft.) per hour for CMYK applications, the XR-640 is Roland’s fastest every printer/cutter. With integrated print/cut capability, the XR-640 expedites the production cycle by allowing for unattended print and contour cut production in one easy, seamless step.

Dual Print head

ECO-SOL MAX 2 is a new generation of Roland's award-winning eco-solvent ink, featuring outstanding long-term outdoor durability, scratch and chemical resistance, broad media support and a wide gamut – all with no nickel compounds. ECO-SOL MAX 2 is engineered for stable, consistent output, and produces even colors with sharp ECO-SOL MAX 2images and text. These enhancements bring out every detail for the highest print quality.

Roland print technology achieves stunning, vibrant color quality through integrated hardware, software, and ink systems that combine to maximize the performance of the industry's most advanced print heads.

In addition to CMYKLcLm, new light black (Lk) ink has been introduced with ECO-SOL MAX 2. Light black makes a significant difference to any printed image, delivering highly accurate colors and seamless gradations. With light black, you will achieve a neutral gray for smooth gray scale gradations and precise photographic images. Light black also enhances color stability for the reproduction of skin tones and other colors containing natural hues. With light black, you can create the rich subtleties for posters, decorative backlits and wraps that draw consumers in and reflect the image of a high-end brand.

Accurate gray balance and remarkably smooth skin tones.

Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX 2 is designed for premium, brilliant effects, and is packed with new, reformulated pigments that are more reflective than ever. The built-in Roland Metallic Color System Library supports 512 metallic colors, allowing you to choose just the right color from the Adobe® Illustrator® swatch library. An improved reformulated white ink offers higher opacity for exceptionally bright white text, graphics and floods. With both Metallic Silver and White ECO-SOL MAX 2, you benefit from the latest in ink engineering. The XR-640 with the new white and metallic silver inks has achieved excellent productivity, almost double that of predecessor's in the same class. In fact, the standard mode of the XR-640 can match the image quality and density of its predecessor's high quality mode. As a result, you can now print high quality large-scale items in a much shorter time frame. In addition, the XR-640 has refined the automated ink circulation system, which prevents the pigment in white and metallic silver ink from settling. As well as maintaining stable output quality, waste of white and metallic silver inks required for maintenance has been cut by around 50% in comparison with predecessor's model*1, contributing to significant reduction of running costs.

The XR-640 comes with Roland VersaWorks RIP and print management software. When using the PANTONE® library within Roland VersaWorks, the PANTONE® spot color used in the design file is automatically converted to a CMYK value and then closely matched to a color within the gamut of the ECO-SOL MAX 2 ink set. This simplified workflow reduces the amount of time required for color matching and enables quick output of specific colors when working with a properly profiled media. The extent of color matching can always be impacted by ink, media and printer setup. For color-critical environments, Roland recommends using color verification tools to assist in the process. You can also replace spot colors with any of the colors included in the Roland Color System, Roland VersaWorks' own library of more than 1,000 standard colors and 512 metallic shades. With Roland Color, you can print reference tools such as color charts and chips to precisely target custom colors.

The XR-640 supports 512 spot metallic colors allowing you to apply one or more predefined colors to any graphic with a click of the mouse. You can also choose colors from Adobe® Illustrator®.

Roland's Metallic Texture System Library allows you to easily apply unique patterns and textures to metallic colors for added impact. Simply select a texture or pattern from the Roland swatch library in Adobe® Illustrator® and apply it to your graphic.

Roland OnSupport is an online customer support system allowing you to remotely track the status of your XR-640 activities. The system sends e-mail notifications directly to your PC or mobile phone with important information such as when a job is completed and when ink is running low. With Roland OnSupport, you are free to leave your printer unattended, knowing that critical production information will be sent to Roland OnSupportyou in real time. The system also provides valuable information such as how to create print files using metallic colors and tips to further enhance metallic effects.

Errors and out-of-ink notifications are automatically emailed to your mobile phone. No more interruptions in the middle of jobs!

Now you can concentrate on other tasks, and an email will notify you when the printing is done.
